Hot Chocolate Coffee with Candied Orange Syrup

First I want to wish you all a Happy New Year, full of wonderful emotions! It’s been a month since my last post and I’ve really missed this place! I hope that I returned richer in knowledge about photography, because I can assure you that not even a day passed without taking photos, reading and learning new things. I’m very happy that last month of 2013 gave me some opportunities to get also acquainted with portrait photography and I totally fell in love with it. Until that moment I felt afraid of experimenting other categories of photography and now I’m really happy that those unexpected opportunities through which I discovered more of what photography means, “forced” me, by their element of surprise, to react quickly and therefore not to have time to overthink it and to let them pass me by. Here is a little glimpse of my first encounter with portrait photography.

I don’t have new year resolutions, all I want is to enjoy as much as I can every moment of pleasure and happiness. I would also like to get over perfectionism. This costs me a lot of time and effort. I feel the need to learn to value more the significance of things and to pay less attention to how correctly these things are done.

My vacation is almost over and those mornings when I will wake up at impossible hours are near so coffee will again be that thing that gets my day started. A few weeks ago I bought from Starbucks a coffee with chocolate and orange syrup (I think…at least it tasted like this) and I was totally in love with this combination. So, given the fact that I had in my fridge a jar full of candied orange peel in syrup, I tried to replicate the amazing beverage. It’s very easy and it tastes heavenly. It’s just what you need to start a winter day.

I won’t give you proportions given that everybody can combine ingredients in the desired quantities. You just need fresh made espresso, 2 teaspoons of hot-chocolate mix (bought or homemade), 2-3 teaspoons of candied orange syrup and some whipped cream (I didn’t add more sugar because for me the syrup and the hot-chocolate mix are sweet enough). All you need to do with these ingredients is this: add the hot chocolate mix to the hot espresso and stir until it has dissolved. Then add the orange syrup and more sugar if you want. Garnish with whipped cream and enjoy a perfect winter energizing beverage!
