Cataif (kadayif)

Cataiful este un desert turcesc, dar care se poate manca si in Grecia, intr-o forma putin modificata. Se face foarte usor, dintr-o baza facuta din paste foarte subtiri si insiropate din greu cu sirop concentrat de zahar. Chiar daca nu va plac deserturile foarte dulci, eu zic sa incercati macar o lingurita de cataif. O sa merite.
Eu am gasit taietei de cataif deja preparati, adica copti in cuptor pana devin aurii. 
Ingrediente:

  • 1 cutie cu taietei pentru cataif (350 g)
  • 300 ml apa
  • 200 ml lapte
  • 100 g unt
  • 400 g zahar
  • 1 lingura esenta de vanilie
  • 300 g smantana
  • putina nuca, sau fistic  macinate mare


Cum se face:

  • Intr-o craticioara pune apa, laptele si zaharul. Fierbe la foc mediu 5 minute (ai grija sa nu iasa in foc)
  • Continua sa fierbi, dar la foc foarte mic, 15 minute
  • Pune siropul la racit putin. Adauga untul si amesteca pana cand se topeste.
  • Adauga vanilia si lasa siropul sa se raceasca pana cand poti tine degetul inauntru
  • Toarna siropul peste taietei si lasa pana ce se raceste bine, iar siropul este absorbit. Taieteii trebuie sa se inmoaie, dar nu foarte tare.
  • Pune putina frisca deasupra si presara cu nuca


English version
Katayif is a Turkish dessert, but you can eat in Greece too, in a slightly modified form. It is easy, based on very thin pasta (like angel hair) and concentrated sugar syrup. Even if you do not like very sweet desserts, I say to try even a spoon of cataif. For sure you will like it.
I bought the Katayif noodles package already cooked, baked in the oven until golden brown.
Ingredients:
* 1 box of noodles for cataif (350 g)
* 300 ml water
* 200 ml milk
* 100 g butter
* 400 g sugar
* 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
* 300 g whipped cream
* some walnuts, or pistachios grounded
How To:
* In a saucepan put water, milk and sugar. Simmer over medium heat 5 minutes
* Continue to simmer, but very low heat, 15 minutes
* C ool syrup a bit. Add butter and stir until melted.
* Add vanilla syrup and let cool until you can keep your finger in.
* Pour syrup over noodles and let it until cools well, and the syrup is absorbed. Pasta has softened, but not very much.
* Put a little whipped cream on top and sprinkle with walnuts
